A Russian national has been taken into custody after allegedly travelling to Dubai and fatally stabbing his former wife, a flight attendant, following suspicions about her personal life. The attack occurred last week inside a room at the Voco Bonnington Hotel, where the victim, 25-year-old Anastasia, was staying.

Authorities said she was discovered hours later with multiple stab wounds across her body.

    Man entered room in disguise

According to details reported by The New York Post, the suspect – 41-year-old Albert Morgan – is accused of entering the hotel by pretending to be a guest. Investigators said he took a hotel robe from the laundry area, put it on, and persuaded a housekeeping staff member to unlock Anastasia’s room.

Morgan, a legal consultant, had been married to Anastasia, who worked with the Russian airline Pobeda, for two years before they separated.

Suspect travelled from Russia after checking messages

Police said the accused had gone through his ex-wife’s private messages after their split and became convinced she had been working as a high-end escort during their marriage. Driven by this suspicion, he travelled roughly 2,700 miles from Russia to the UAE before the attack.

Investigators noted that Morgan had originally planned a different form of assault — intending to splash Anastasia with green paint and cut her hair with scissors. However, a confrontation reportedly unfolded as soon as he entered the room, escalating into violence that resulted in him stabbing her multiple times.

Anastasia was later found lying in a pool of blood.

History of criminal record and prior disputes

Morgan previously served a seven-year sentence on drug-related charges in Russia. Reports also indicate that he and Anastasia had been involved in several disputes during their relationship. Although she had lodged complaints against him in the past, she later withdrew them.

Suspect identified through CCTV and arrested in Russia

Hotel employees notified Dubai Police immediately after discovering the victim. Officers reviewed CCTV footage from the premises, which quickly helped them identify the suspect. Authorities then alerted Russian officials, who moved swiftly to detain Morgan.

Upon returning to Russia, Morgan allegedly attempted to volunteer for deployment in the war in Ukraine – a route some accused individuals have reportedly used to avoid prison sentences. However, The Sun reported that his attempt failed.

He has since been remanded in custody for two months while Russian authorities continue their investigation into the killing.
