Now international visitors arriving at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed airport can get a free 10GB SIM- The Week

In a bid to ensure a comfortable travel for international visitors, Abu Dhabi is now giving a free SIM for passengers arriving at the Zayed International Airport.

The move is not surprising since Zayed was named the “Best Airport at Arrivals Globally” for three consecutive years.

The 10GB data will be valid for 24 hours. The authorities believe the move will help travellers instantly access key online services, including making cashless payments, hailing rides, accessing maps, messaging and destination guide such as the Abu Dhabi Pass.

This comes after a deal was signed by the Abu Dhabi Airports and state-owned telecom major e&, formally known as the Etisalat Group, to provide visitors with 10GB SIM cards.

Abu Dhabi Airports CEO and Managing Director Elena Sorlini said their focus is on ensuring that passengers feel welcomed the moment they arrive. “Our partnership with e& reflects our shared commitment to enhancing connectivity, convenience and digital access to create an exceptional and seamless arrival experience for every traveller,” she added.

Etisalat UAE CEO Masood M. Sharif Mahmood said the telecom major’s joint project with the airport aims to simplify arrivals with a fast, digital-first experience. “Providing seamless connectivity at Zayed International Airport ensures travellers enjoy convenience and ease as soon as they arrive,” he said.

Being one of the busiest aviation hubs in the world, Zayed International Airport handles a network of 30 airlines connecting passengers from more than 100 destinations. The new terminal at the airport received 23.9 million passengers as of September 30.
