CBI, MEA & MHA coordinate to secure return of fugitive from UAE

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has successfully facilitated the return of fugitive Ritik Bajaj from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through INTERPOL channels, officials said on Tuesday.

Ritik Bajaj, who was the subject of an INTERPOL Red Notice, was wanted by the Delhi Police in connection with cases of smuggling and supply of narcotic substances. He had fled India to evade arrest and was subsequently located in the UAE by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

On the request of the Delhi Police, the CBI had earlier secured the publication of an INTERPOL Red Notice against Bajaj on October 9, 2025, an official said.

INTERPOL Red Notices are circulated to law enforcement agencies worldwide to help locate and provisionally arrest fugitives pending extradition or deportation.

Acting on intelligence inputs, the CBI coordinated with INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau (NCB) in Bangkok to track the fugitive’s travel movements towards the UAE. Thereafter, close coordination with Abu Dhabi’s NCB led to his location being traced and him being located and detained, the official added.

A Delhi Police team travelled to the UAE and escorted Ritik Bajaj back to India. He arrived in New Delhi on December 23, 2025, officials confirmed.
