Why was Angry Ginge arrested before joining I’m A Celeb? | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Before heading into the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, YouTuber Angry Ginge had faced a ‘traumatising’ run-in with the police.

The 24-year-old, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, was attending a Silverstone race this July, alongside fellow streamers Chazza and SamHam.

But they were arrested after being accused of causing £30,000 worth of criminal damage to a Formula 1 racing car.

The trio had been livestreaming from the British Grand Prix site before they were interrupted by law enforcement and taken to jail for 15 hours, according to Ginge, reports the Daily Star.

Speaking to his fans after the arrest, Ginge revealed what actually happened.

“The car, it is there, me, Sam and Chazza have walked past it, and then we’ve stopped, ‘Oh, there’s people getting in and out of it, alright Chaz, you go and get in it,’ he shared.

“Because content creators, alright, create a funny moment, which it was a funny moment, until the cell door shut and weren’t laughing then let me tell you, I’m genuinely traumatised from what I went through there.”

He went on to explain that Chaz, real name Charlie Clark, didn’t even fully sit in the car. Instead, the trio thought it would be funny to record him pretending he couldn’t fit in the vehicle.

The whole debacle is featured in his YouTube video detailing the arrest.

Ginge continued: “Then security came over, as Chaz is already out at this point, security haven’t actually seen Chazza in it, then they tell the other people to go in.

“Now, as a little funny moment, I think, ‘This will be funny, I’ll try get Chazza in [trouble]’. [So I say] ‘Hang on a minute, he’s just been in there.’ Again, just being laughing and joking, thinking nothing is really up with it.”

The reality personality continued by revealing that officers instructed him to terminate the live broadcast before reading the three men their rights and detaining them at approximately 9pm.

They were freed “15 hours” afterwards and advised home viewers to “stay out of trouble” following the “brutal” ordeal.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesperson stated: “On Friday, July 4, Northamptonshire Police received a report that a classic Formula 1 car on display at Silverstone Circuit during the British Grand Prix event had sustained several thousands of pounds worth of damage, which was alleged to have been caused by someone accessing the display stand and climbing into the vehicle.”

They continued: “Officers carried out initial inquiries, and suspects were identified. Three men, aged 23, 25 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage to a vehicle and taken into police custody. Following a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident, all three men were released with no further action.”

Despite receiving clearance from police, the trio were barred from returning for the remainder of the Silverstone event.
