UAE releases over 6,530 prisoners ahead of Eid Al Etihad 2025

The UAE will release more than 6,530 prisoners from correctional facilities ahead of Eid Al Etihad 2025.

Leaders of the emirates pledged to support inmates and give them opportunities for rehabilitation.

A total of 6,546 prisoner releases have been announced across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Ajman and Fujairah.

    Prisoners released in Abu Dhabi

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered the release of 2,937 inmates from correctional institutions in the UAE. He has also pledged to cover the financial penalties incurred by the inmates as part of their sentences.

Coinciding with the UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations, the directive reflects Sheikh Mohamed’s commitment to giving the released inmates a fresh start in life, easing the burden on their families, and bringing joy to their loved ones.

The initiative is part of the President’s broader efforts to promote stability, social cohesion, and opportunities for rehabilitation.

    Prisoners released in Dubai

In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, ordered the release of 2025 prisoners of different nationalities from Dubai’s correctional and punitive establishments, ahead of the 54th Eid Al Etihad.

Chancellor Essam Issa Al-Humaidan, Attorney General of Dubai, said that Sheikh Mohammed’s order to pardon the prisoners reflects his keenness to bring happiness to their families and give them an opportunity to start a new life and reintegrate themselves into society.

Al-Humaidan further said Dubai Public Prosecution, in collaboration with Dubai Police, has commenced the legal procedures to implement Sheikh Mohammed’s order.

Prisoners released in Raas Al Khaimah

Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, ordered the release of 854 inmates from the Ras Al Khaimah correctional and punitive institution who were serving various sentences and had been convicted in different cases.

The pardon comes in celebration of the UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad.

This directive reflects Sheikh Saud bin Saqr’s commitment to easing the burdens on the families of the inmates and giving those released an opportunity to turn the page on the past.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, instructed that the necessary procedures be taken to implement the Ruler’s order for the release of those included in the pardon, in coordination with the Ras Al Khaimah Police, as quickly as possible.

    Prisoners released in Sharjah

Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, ordered the release of 366 inmates serving their sentences at the Punishment and Correctional Institution Department.

The decision includes those who met the conditions of the pardon, based on good conduct and behaviour, and comes on the occasion of the 54th Eid Al Etihad.

    Prisoners released in Ajman

Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, ordered the release of 225 prisoners from punitive and correctional institutions in Ajman, ahead of the UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad.

The inmates of various nationalities were selected based on good conduct and behaviour.

The Ruler of Ajman expressed his hope that the released prisoners would reintegrate into society and public life after serving their sentences, and that the joy of Eid Al Etihad would be complete with their reunion with their families.

    Prisoners released in Fujairah

Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, ordered the release of 129 prisoners from punitive and correctional institutions in Fujairah, ahead of UAE 54th Eid Al Etihad.

The inmates of various nationalities were selected based on good conduct and behaviour.

The gesture is part of Sheikh Hamad’s desire to give prisoners an opportunity to start a new life and bring joy to their families.

For his part, Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police, expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the Ruler of Fujairah for this generous gesture, stressing that this initiative reflects the noble humanitarian vision of the wise leadership and constitutes a real incentive for those released to return to society with a positive spirit and determination.
