South Africa continued their dominance in the second Test against India with a brilliant batting display on the second day. They managed to score 489 runs in their first innings, putting themselves in a strong position. The Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati is hosting the clash.
The Proteas resumed with an overnight score of 247/6 on Sunday (November 23) with Senuran Muthusamy and Kyle Verreynne at the crease. The duo frustrated the Indian bowlers by stitching an 88-run partnership after facing 236 balls. Ravindra Jadeja broke the stand and gave the hosts their first breakthrough of the day in the second session.
Marco Jansen came in next and played aggressively against a tiring bowling attack to inject momentum into the innings. Muthusamy (109) notched up his maiden century, while Jansen scored 93 (91) to take South Africa to 489 before the conclusion of their first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal (7*) and KL Rahul (2*) then took India to 9/0 in 6.1 overs before stumps.

Speaking after stumps on the second day of the Guwahati Test, South Africa all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy reflected on his knock and said (via cricbuzz):
“It was a really special moment in front of this full house. I’m just glad that I could contribute to the team and really put some runs on the board in the first innings, which is always important. It (plan) was just to build partnerships and to really try and extend the innings and then score runs in between.”
He continued:
“I think Scholesy (Verreynne) did really well today and Marco was special. And the other guys chipped in as well, which was awesome. Oh, it was incredible. I had the best seat in the house. That was special. Special ball striking. It was fantastic from him. It was awesome.”
