As per data available on IndiGo’s website, only two of the total flight cancellations were attributed to operational issues, while the overwhelming majority were linked to anticipated adverse weather conditions. Major airports affected include Bihar, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab Lucknow, Varanasi and Guwahati.

The airline has also cancelled 15 flights scheduled for Saturday due to bad weather forecast across North Indian airports.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has designated the period between December 10 and February 10 as the winter fog window. During this time, flight operations are routinely challenged by low visibility across northern and eastern parts of the country.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an advisory stating that dense fog may impact airports, highways, and rail routes. It urged citizens to be extra cautious because visibility is low.
The weather agency has predicted dense to very dense fog at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya, Bihar, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh till morning hours of Saturday.
