After his appearance on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Aitch has garnered fresh attention, quickly becoming a viewer favourite. Ten celebrities, including Angry Ginge, Kelly Brook and Martin Kemp, jetted off to Australia for the ITV1 programme on November 16.

The campmates will be undertaking Bushtucker trials as they compete for the coveted title of king or queen of the jungle. Last year, Danny Jones, renowned for his stint in McFly, claimed the prestigious crown, with Coleen Rooney finishing as runner-up.

Among the stars braving the jungle this year is Manchester-born rapper Aitch, who shot to prominence in 2018 with his track “Straight Rhymez”. The 25-year-old boasts one Brit Award and has released eleven top-10 singles, including Baby and Taste (Make It Shake).

Throughout his career as a rapper, Aitch has worked alongside artists such as Anne-Marie, AJ Tracey and Ed Sheeran. Like many rappers, Aitch opted to perform under a stage name rather than his birth name.

Aitch’s real name is Harrison James Armstrong, and the origin of his stage name “Aitch” remains relatively unknown. The rapper’s moniker derives from the pronunciation of the letter H, the initial letter of his given name, particularly how it sounds in his Mancunian accent.

It’s believed his friends simply called him H for short. Following a TikTok video explaining the story behind Aitch’s stage name, one viewer remarked: “That’s genius. I was today years old, wth.”

Another viewer remarked: “I figured that out the other day while watching Tay and Ginge. Also didn’t know Angry Ginge’s real name was Morgan.”

A third chimed in: “Omg what what, that actually makes so much more sense.” Aitch made the decision to participate in I’m a Celebrity, motivated by his sister Gracie, who has Down’s Syndrome.

He explained: “On an Aitch level, I feel like I have got this calling to raise awareness for Down syndrome and I feel that’s the perfect place. Also, you don’t always want to be stuck in the same world forever.”

He continued: “You can branch out and do other things. You don’t have to stick to the code (rap world), because you think that’s cool. I did have to cancel some gigs for it. But you are never going to branch out if you do the same thing all the time.”

Since the show’s premiere at 9pm on Sunday, November 16, Aitch has been a standout character, swiping sweets meant for the whole camp, serenading Ruby Wax, and amusingly imitating accents with Tom Read Wilson while ordering “one pepperoni pizza, jalapeños and two curry sauce”.
