Alex Scott was the first celebrity to be sent packing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after facing the public vote.  She faced a challenging time in the jungle, and got raw with her campmates, but one other aspect about her life Alex has opened up about in the past is the struggles she faced in her childhood. She released her memoir back in 2022 and described her father’s alleged violent behaviour towards her mother.

She shared heartbreaking details of her memories as a child, admitting that she wanted to write about it to “free” her mum and for them to be able to get some peace. In her biography, How (Not) to Be Strong, she alleged her dad hit her mum while she and her brother were in bed.

Alex heartbreakingly said: “All I could do was lie there and pray my mum would be alive in the morning.”

She later said in an interview with Radio 4’s Emma Barnett that her mum wasn’t aware that the children could hear everything. Alex added: “She’s trying to be strong in a totally different way, we’re trying to be strong for her but can’t help her. The visuals are still so there. I couldn’t do anything.

“It’s all still so raw. I can visualise it like it was yesterday.” She explained that even when her dad left, they didn’t speak about it and just tried to move on with their lives. But she added: “That pain and the struggles still continue.”

Alex’s father gave an interview in Daily Mail at the time where he denied the claims that he was violent towards his family but stated he was a strict parent.

He said: “Perhaps she is judging me by today’s standards, I don’t know. Parents were a lot tougher back then. But I was never violent, that’s just not me. I never beat Alex or anyone else in the family or did anything like that.”

However, Alex maintains that she stands by everything she wrote in the book and declared “it’s the truth”. She then pledged that all proceeds from the book sales would go towards women affected by domestic abuse.

Her book was released in 2022 and she has gone on to talk about it in interviews that followed, she now has a number of successes under her belt, including her title as former Arsenal captain and being part of England’s Lionesses.

Now she’s just completed a two week stint in the I’m A Celeb jundle, taking on all sorts of trials and challenges, though she was the first to go packing after failing to be saved by the public.
