    IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, who is on an official visit to Australia, has highlighted how global enterprises are preferring the State for establishing innovation and technology hubs.

    He also spoke of the Telangana School of Life Sciences that the State government has proposed from a perspective of creating of a pipeline of skilled talent pool to further boost the growth of the Life Sciences sector.

    In Australia to address the AusBiotech International Conference 2025, a prestigious conference in the Asia-Pacific region, Mr. Sridhar Babu on Wednesday held discussions with industry representatives and presided over a programme in which Telangana government and the RMIT university in Melbourne, signed a letter of intent (LoI) to collaborate in the fields of education, research and innovation in life sciences.

    “As we work towards establishing the Telangana School of Life Sciences, such collaborations will help us nurture a highly skilled, research-oriented workforce that can drive innovation and shape India’s biotechnology future,” he said.

    The partnership with RMIT University is in line with the State’s vision to cultivate world-class talent, foster innovation and position Hyderabad at the forefront of global biotechnology education and research, Telangana Global Life Sciences (TGLS) said in a release. Deputy Vice-Chancellor of RMIT University Catherine Itsiopoulos and Telangana Life Sciences Foundation CEO Shakthi Nagappan signed the LoI.

    In another engagement, the Minister met Sanjeev Gandhi, CEO and Managing Director of Orica in Melbourne and discussed the Australian industrial explosives manufacturing and mining and infrastructure solutions provider’s plans to enhance investments in Telangana.

    Orica operates a global capability centre (GCC) in Hyderabad employing around 600 skilled professionals in areas such as digital engineering, automation and advanced analytics.

    During the interaction, Mr. Sridhar Babu highlighted Telangana’s expanding GCC ecosystem, world-class infrastructure and progressive industrial policies that are attracting global enterprises to establish innovation and technology hubs in the State. He invited Orica to explore collaboration opportunities in industrial innovation, sustainability and digital transformation in Telangana’s manufacturing and mining sectors.

    Mr. Gandhi appreciated the State government’s proactive approach to industry engagement and assured continued partnership with Telangana to expand Orica’s footprint in India, the Minister’s office said in a release.
