Flight status today: Low visibility impacts schedules; Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet issue alerts – Airlines/Aviation News

Delhi Airport issued a passenger advisory amid ongoing low-visibility conditions, stating that “low visibility procedures are still in progress at Delhi Airport” even as “all flight operations are functioning normally”. The advisory also urged passengers to “connect to their respective airlines for the latest flight updates.” Flight operations across several airports in northern and eastern India have been impacted because of dense fog and low visibility, prompting major airlines to issue travel advisories. The airlines have also urged the flyers to remain alert during the ongoing holiday travel period.

Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet had released advisories to assist flyers navigating fog-related disruptions that can impact flight operations.

66 flights cancelled amid dense fog

As per an update by ANI, dense fog and low visibility have resulted in the cancellation of 66 flights, including both arrivals and departures at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday.

Air India warns of possible “ripple effect”

In its advisories, Air India stated that it will “make every effort to mitigate fog-related disruptions” and underlined that it is remaining vigilant during the season when fog frequently impacts flight movements. The airlines also mentioned the weather department’s forecast of dense fog conditions in Delhi and parts of northern and eastern India. It has also cautioned that flight operations are expected to be affected at Delhi, along with Lucknow (LKO), Amritsar (ATQ), Patna (PAT, Varanasi (VNS) and Chandigarh (IXC). It also warned that disturbances at these airports could result in a “ripple effect across the network,” as delays at one hub can affect onward services.

Air India said its ground teams will be available round the clock to help passengers if flights are delayed or cancelled, and to assist in alternative arrangements. The airline also highlighted its FogCare initiative, under which passengers booked on select flights during the fog window may get alerts in advance. It said eligible travellers can change flights without paying any additional amount or can choose a full refund without penalty. The airline urged its passengers to check their flight status on its official platform before heading to the airport.

    IndiGo, SpiceJet cite low visibility

IndiGo also issued advisories due to low visibility conditions at several locations. In one update, the airline stated that dense fog across Chandigarh and Amritsar is mainly reducing visibility and affecting flight operations to and from these cities. In a separate advisory shared on X, IndiGo warned that low visibility and fog over Jammu, Hindon and Ranchi airports may impact flight schedules. The airline appealed to flyers to check the latest status on its website or app before planning the journey to the airport. It also mentioned that teams are working closely to resume normal operations as soon as conditions get better.

#WeatherUpdate (20th Dec’25): Due to expected bad weather (poor visibility) in Delhi (DEL), Jammu (IXJ), Ayodhya (AYJ), Gorakhpur (GOP), Varanasi (VNS), Amritsar (ATQ), Darbhanga (DBR), Patna (PAT) and Bagdogra (IXB), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights might…
