A harmless airport moment has suddenly turned into a social-media storm for Priyanka Chopra, after an old clip resurfaced online claiming she staged fan interactions. But while the internet rushed to accuse her of a PR stunt, Hollywood actor Bella Thorne stepped in with a firm defence.
The resurfaced airport video sparks speculation
The throwback video shows Priyanka walking out of an airport as two fans approach her for autographs. Within minutes, the same two individuals appear again in front of the paparazzi, asking for another autograph. Priyanka signs for them both times without hesitation.
This repeat interaction triggered speculation online that the moment was “manufactured,” with some accusing her team of planting fans for a staged PR moment.
Users on social platforms labelled the interaction “fake,” “scripted,” and “unnecessary PR.”
Bella Thorne shuts down the criticism
Hollywood star Bella Thorne came across one such video and strongly rejected the PR stunt claims. Reacting directly in the comments, Bella wrote,
“No, I don’t think this is a PR stunt. They just follow you everywhere when you’re in the terminal they also sell those pages online… Either way I highly doubt she staged it. She’s just being nice and signing it again cuz they won’t leave her alone and are continuing to follow her through the terminal.”
Her comment immediately shifted the tone of the conversation, with many praising her for defending Priyanka.
Why the moment was misunderstood
Bella also pointed out the detail that fans often carry blank sheets to later Photoshop signatures onto items for resale — something many international actors frequently experience. She said that Priyanka likely signed the sheets twice simply because the fans kept following her.

Priyanka, meanwhile, is gearing up for a busy slate of work. She is returning to Indian cinema after years with SS Rajamouli’s Telugu film Varanasi, which also stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran and is slated for a Sankranthi 2027 release. Alongside this, she will be seen in The Bluff, and she is also working on the second season of her global web series Citadel.
