At IIM-I, deans & directors from 50 countries give lessons on global management education

Indore: The 18th Eduniversal World Convention opened at IIM-Indore, bringing together more than 150 deans and directors from 50 countries for four days of discussions on the future of global management education, on Monday.Held on the institute campus, the convention is centred on the theme ‘Bridging Purpose and Performance – Business Education as a Force for Good,’ and focuses on how business schools can balance academic excellence with social impact.IIM-Indore director profesor Himanshu Rai said business education must evolve beyond traditional markers of success. “Our mission is to shape leaders who act with courage, compassion and clarity of purpose,” he said in his address. The opening day featured two panel discussions and a keynote session. The first panel, ‘Crafting Social Impact in Business Education,’ examined how institutions can embed sustainability, inclusion and ethics in curriculum design and campus culture. Speakers discussed ways to move from intent to measurable outcomes and to ensure that business schools contribute meaningfully to social change. The second panel focused on experiential learning models and showcased how leading schools are redesigning classroom experiences for an era defined by disruption and rapid technological shifts.Eduniversal founder and CEO Martial Guiette said the global landscape requires leaders with conscience as much as competence. “Today’s leaders are not judged only by what they achieve, but by how their achievements serve others. Business education must inspire integrity along with intelligence,” he said.Indore mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava also addressed delegates and spoke about the city’s transformation into one of India’s cleanest and fastest-growing urban centres. He said Indore’s progress was powered by citizen participation and strong governance. “Indore has emerged as a vibrant centre of innovation, culture and economic growth, making it an ideal host for global academic gatherings,” he said. The convention will run till Nov 13 and will include workshops, networking sessions and deliberations on global rankings, partnerships and emerging models of management education.
