Stock Market Holiday: The Indian stock markets will remain closed on Thursday, December 25, 2025, on account of Christmas. Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE will suspend trading for the day, marking the final stock market holiday of 2025. Most major global markets, including those in the US, the UK and Europe, will also be shut for the holiday.

There will be no trading or settlement activity on the NSE and BSE across equity, equity derivatives and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments. In addition, currency and commodity markets will also remain closed on Thursday.

Trading across Indian stock exchanges will resume on Friday, December 26, 2024. The next scheduled market holiday in India will be on January 26, 2025, on account of Republic Day.

    Commodity markets on Christmas

Commodity trading will also be completely suspended on Christmas. The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will remain closed for both morning and evening sessions on December 25, 2025.

Similarly, the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), India’s largest agricultural commodity exchange, will not operate on the day.

    Stock market trading hours

The Indian stock market operates from Monday to Friday between 9:15 AM and 3:30 PM. A pre-open session is held from 9:00 AM to 9:15 AM on regular trading days. Markets remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

    2026 stock market holidays calendar

Muhurat Trading for 2026 will be conducted on Sunday, November 8, 2026. The exchange will announce the exact trading timings closer to the date.
