What if you did breakfast in Mumbai and lunch in Dubai, all within a couple of hours? We know this may sound like science fiction, but a massive infrastructure project is aiming to make this possible. It will completely transform how people and goods travel between India and the UAE.

An Instagram video recently highlighted this ambitious plan that shows how futuristic engineering is turning an underwater, supersonic train into a reality.

    Train From Mumbai To Dubai

The train is reportedly being designed to travel beneath the Arabian Sea, linking India and the UAE. According to the video, “The Deep Blue Express is actually being built right now, connecting India and the UAE through the Arabian Sea, but here’s where it gets crazy. This train travels between 600 and 1000 km per hour, which is faster than most aeroplanes.”

Passengers on this train will be travelling at hypersonic speeds, which makes journeys faster than conventional flights while enjoying a one-of-a-kind experience.

    A Journey Like No Other

“What makes it even more mind-blowing,” the narrator continues, “is that they’re building panoramic windows into the tunnel walls. Imagine cruising 200 metres below the Arabian Sea while massive sharks, whales and schools of fish swim past you. It’s like travelling inside the world’s longest aquarium at supersonic speeds.”

The project isn’t just for passengers. “Now here’s what most people don’t know – this isn’t just about passengers, the tunnel serves a dual purpose – it will transport crude oil from Dubai to India and fresh water from India back to Dubai, solving two massive rigorous problems simultaneously,” the video explains.

    What Are The Other Benefits

With a project budget exceeding $50 billion, this is one of the costliest infrastructure projects ever undertaken. Yet, its significance goes beyond just engineering feats. According to the video, the project is expected to generate “over 50,000 jobs, transform Mumbai into a global hub and reduce travel costs between India and the UAE by nearly 60 per cent.”

“By 2030, you could be having breakfast in Mumbai and lunch in Dubai, all while watching Marine life that humans rarely get to see,” the clip adds.

Once completed, the India-UAE underwater train will reduce travel time to just two hours, compared with the typical 3-3.5 hour flight between the two cities.

The caption shared along with the video reads, “Mumbai to Dubai in 2 hours. A train that travels faster than airplanes… underwater. If this opened tomorrow, would you be on the first ride?”

    When Will It Be Launched?

While the exact dates for the underwater rail link are still being finalised, India and the UAE have already begun discussions on how to implement the project.
